The Vallée Blanche & Ski touring
The legend associated with off-piste in the Chamonix valley was born on the confines of the glaciers, there where the slopes seem to go on forever. The most famous off-piste descent is doubtless the Valley Blanche, accessed via the Aiguille du Midi cable car and offering several variants. This glacial route is very popular in early spring, but is nevertheless a high-mountain itinerary, therefore the presence of a mountain guide is strongly recommended.
Chamonix’s granite attracts climbers from the world over. Superb mountain routes, prestigious north faces or more accessible rock faces and boulders for amateur climbers and beginners, once again the choice is vast.
Rocher d’escalade des Gaillands
Very nice climbing site accessible by car, bus, train or on foot, about 2 km from Chamonix center.
Nice places to visit :
Lac des Gaillands
Located in the valley, the Gaillands lake, a few kilometers from Chamonix is the ideal place to have a little break. Close to the climbing wall, at the exit of the hamlet of Les Pècles, and right in front of Mont-Blanc!
Cascade du Dard
A fantastic twenty meters high waterfall located at 1233 m, and offering a beautiful viewpoint. About 45 minutes from downtown Chamonix. View on the Aiguilles Rouges range, the Bossons glacier and the Mont-Blanc.
This place is ideal for small strolls or to picnic. It offers an incredible view on the Mont Blanc massif and is very sunny. Several activities are possible in summer (outside climbing wall, fishing, petanque, games for children) as in winter (cross-country skiing, snowshoes).
